The University of Florida Student Academy of Audiology chapter just completed their 11th annual humanitarian trip to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Stationed in Ciudad del Carmen in the state of Campeche, 16 audiology students from the University of Florida, 3 students from the University of Oklahoma and 5 accompanying faculty members screened the hearing of 1540 individuals.
“With the help of ReSound, we were also able to fit 4 hearing aids while on site and donate others to a non-profit clinic that we work with called AYPRODA,” said Diana Guerico, President of the Student Academy of Audiology, University of Florida Chapter.
The other 46 hearing aids donated by ReSound will be dispensed throughout the year to children and young adults in need in the Yucatan Peninsula.
