Exciting news!
There has been a giant leap made in Bluetooth technology, as of late.
In this video, Dr. Cliff discusses how Bluetooth® Low Energy (LE) Audio and AuracastTM broadcast audio enabled hearing aids, such as ReSound Nexia, are a game changer for the hearing aid industry.
With today’s modern hearing aid technology, you can pretty much listen to anything you want to.
The direct connectivity was made possible by Bluetooth®. Many of the current electronic devices we all currently have has a Bluetooth® connectivity capability.
Currently, the two most prevalent forms of Bluetooth are Bluetooth® Classic and Bluetooth® Low Energy:
- Bluetooth® Low Energy has been available for about 10+ years.
- Bluetooth® Low Energy consumes approximately half (50%) of the energy of Bluetooth® Classic, which was introduced around 1999.
- This significant reduction in energy usage makes Bluetooth® Low Energy an excellent choice for hearing aids, particularly those powered by small disposable or rechargeable batteries, as preserving battery life is important.
But even Bluetooth® Low Energy isn’t perfect when it comes to streaming audio directly in to your hearing aids.
This is what led the hearing aid industry to work with the Bluetooth® Special Interest Group (Bluetooth® SIG) to make a completely new form of Bluetooth that will ultimately be the future of wireless connectivity, called Bluetooth® Low Energy (LE) Audio.
There are many benefits of Bluetooth® LE Audio, including the following:
- The new Bluetooth® LE Audio will help maintain a high level of sound quality without sacrificing the battery life of your hearing aids and your other wireless devices.
- You’ll be able to independently connect to each one of your hearing aids to your other wireless devices.
- It’ll also become a universally accepted form of Bluetooth worldwide.
Bluetooth® LE Audio also presents AuracastTM broadcast audio, which is something that others are excited about and have been waiting for.
Some of the key features that AuracastTM broadcast audio includes:
- Allows hearing aid users to share their audio with other hearing aid users or even earbud users or tap into a transmitted Bluetooth® signal inside of a public venue. For example, you can share the song you’re listening to with someone who has AuracastTM broadcast audio enabled devices.
- If you find yourself in a public venue like a sports bar, school or an airport, you can tap directly into the audio of the public venue, and have it streamed directly into both of your hearing aids and others with Bluetooth® enabled hearing aids using AuracastTM broadcast audio can do the same.
The new ReSound Nexia hearing aid is the first hearing aid to be Bluetooth® LE Audio and AuracastTM broadcast audio compatible.
With the launch of the new ReSound Nexia hearing aids, ReSound has also created a new TV Streamer+, which is also AuracastTM broadcast audio enabled. With the TV Streamer+, you can stream TV audio directly into your ReSound hearing aids. Anyone else who also has ReSound hearing aids or AuracastTM broadcast audio enabled earbuds can also stream audio directly from the TV into their ears, as well. This is a feature you don’t want to miss out on!
If you’re someone who’s been putting off treating your hearing loss or waiting to upgrade your hearing aid technology because you’ve been waiting for this feature, you are in luck as your wait is finally over!
