Marvel Comics Introduces Hearing Impaired Super Hero

Four-year-old Anthony Smith from New Hampshire was born with a rare genetic condition. He’s unable to hear on his right side, and has hearing loss on his left. But one day he decided he didn’t want to wear his blue hearing aid to school anymore. “Super heroes don’t wear blue ears” he told his mother.

So, Anthony’s mother wrote to Marvel Comics to ask whether super heroes did wear “blue ears”.  Their first response was to send Anthony a comic book of Hawkeye, a super hero with hearing loss.

But then Marvel Comics took it a step further and they created “Blue Ear”, a super hero with hearing loss who can hear the cries of people in trouble via his hearing aid.
