Sound Advice | Hearing Loss Insights from Robert Rohrbach

"Find a good audiologist and check out the line of ReSound hearing aids to help you overcome your hearing deficit."

How and when did you first realize you were experiencing hearing loss?

I started my hearing aid adventure seven years ago. I had difficulty hearing conversations in crowds and noisy environments that evolved into not being able to clearly hear individuals talking directly to me or on the phone. This resulted in a lot of guessing and misinterpretation of what was being said. It left me feeling left out of conversations and I felt isolated.

So, I went to Elite Audiology in Middletown, Ohio and with Dr. Nolan’s recommendations, I purchased a pair of top of the line hearing aids, at that time. These hearing aids helped my situation, but I still had difficulty hearing in crowded, noisy areas. As time passed and I and the hearing aids got older, my old hearing issues began returning and becoming worse.

After seven years, I decided that my hearing and my hearing aids had degraded to the point of needing new hearing aids. Dr. Nolan recommended ReSound ONE hearing aids, the latest digital technology, as my best solution. I have had the ReSound ONE hearing aids for two months and they have performed beyond my expectations.

I also purchased the TV transmitter, the microphone, and the pocket volume control. I have downloaded the ReSound Smart 3D app for my iPhone and have paired the hearing aids to the iPhone, eliminating headphones or earbuds. I have also used the app to make minor hearing adjustments to my hearing aid programs, adjusting base, mids, and treble, as well as creating some subprograms for specific locations that I frequent.

This flexibility has provided me with the hearing capabilities almost as good as being able to hear before needing hearing aids. I can hear conversations clearly in person and on the phone as well as control background noises and voices so they do not distract from my hearing experience.

Just like a fingerprint,
your hearing is one of a kind
