ReSound Art Extravaganza

On June 28, we held the ReSound Art Extravaganza at our Bloomington facility.  As many of you know, we’re currently undergoing major renovations at our headquarters and the art contributed by our talented employees and their family members will be on show on our walls once the remodel is complete.

We were absolutely blown away by the talent and the number of contributions.  We thought it would be fun to take an inside look at the artists that contributed pieces to the collection.

John-SweeJohn Swee has been a member of the ReSound family for the last five years.  As a professional photographer with a background in graphic design, art is a huge part of his life.

“I doodled on everything as a child, saw art in anything,” he says. “I gravitated towards the creative long before I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. In school I pursued all forms of art from watercolor and paint to charcoal and sculpture. I loved the idea of making a reality of something only seen in my mind’s eye.”

And the vision that John had for his contribution to ReSound came from his desire to take fun and trendy black and white art, but make it timeless and classic.  This is what he achieved in the black and white watercolor paintings of World landmarks.

“I wanted to create something that was timeless, recognizable and relateable to visitors and employees in our office,” he says. “I thought this would represent the broader world and be a cool idea of a tryptic vs one canvas. The subjects are well known historical structures, but I used a very organic and stylized look.”

Swee’s black and white depictions of the Colosseum, Eiffel Tower and the Leaning Tower of Pisa are displayed in the forefront of this photograph.

“Life is full of joy, grace and love,” he says. “It’s up to us to reach out and choose those things. I am happiest in nature, surrounded by loved ones and involved in something bigger than myself. I have an amazing partner in life, my wife, Jodie and two giggly, adventurous and precocious little girls, Emma (3yrs) and Holly (19months).”
